What Does Opportunity Look Like?

Today my county issued a stay at home order.

I’ve got a choice to make now.

Am I going to start wandering around in my pajamas and wait out the storm?

Or am I going to use this time to improve my life, the life of my family, and the lives of my clients.

Now is the time where we will see who has the gumption, guts, and fortitude to grab life by the horns.

Thomas A Edison said, “Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.”

Are you going to let this crisis pass you by and miss out on the best that life has to offer you?

But things are different now.

My response is, “So what?”

When things seem darkest, that is when the greatest opportunities exist.

Now is the perfect opportunity to reinvent yourself if you’ve wanted change.

Guess what you’ve now got change.

Use this time of change to elevate your life.

One of my favorite movie scenes comes from Rocky 3.

Rocky is in the boxing ring with Clubber Lang, played by my favorite actor Mr. T.

Clubber is walloping on Rocky.

Rocky just keeps letting Clubber hit him and keeps taking the punishment from Clubber.

Rocky throws a few punches but spends most of his time dodging punches and dancing away from Clubber.

Rocky looks at his opponent unphased and then Rocky begins to taunt his opponent

“Knock me out,” Rocky yells at Clubber. “Give me some more.”

Instead of throwing punches, Rocky pats Clubber on the head with the underside of his boxing glove.

Clubber throws more punches and Rocky.

“Hit me in the face!” yells Rocky, “My mother hits me harder than that.”

Finally, Clubber runs out of gas, and Rocky unloads a series of punches on Clubber.

After all those punches, Rocky lands a right hook into Clubber’s face, and Clubber falls to the ground with a thud.

The count goes to ten, and Rocky wins.

The whole fight Rocky was in control.

Rocky took those punches because he knew he could beat Clubber.

Clubber, by the way, is an excellent name for a boxer.

When you know you’re going to win, you can put up with almost anything.

Steve Prefontaine said, “I’m going to work so that it’s a pure guts race at the end, and if it is, I am the only one who can win it.”

No guts – no glory.
