One of my favorite activities is camping.
There’s something special about getting back to nature that reenergizes me.
Looking at the lake.
Walking on a nature trail.
Sitting around a campfire talking with good friends.
I have many fond memories of nights in a tent followed by days in the woods.
These times away from the hustle and bustle of daily work life bring questions to mind.
One of my aspirations is to drive away in an RV seeing the sights of this great nation we have.
In my home state of North Carolina every few years we have a torrential snow storm that shuts everything down for a few days.
Many years ago the snow was so massive that Raleigh was shut down for a week.
We were without power for a few days as we waited for mother nature to run its course and warm up to send that snow down to the sewer drains.
Now we’re in a new shutdown.
The school system where I live will be closed for the next few weeks.
Families will now have to figure out a way to manage this new normal for a few weeks.
Houses of worship are canceling services to protect their congregants.
I suspect in a few weeks we’ll return to our normal lives.
We are good at adapting to unforeseen circumstances.
This too shall pass.
As life slows down for a few weeks, may we take the time to reflect on how we spend our time.
Are we devoting our time to our most important priorities?
Are we too busy being busy to live our best lives?
Are we mired on a hamster wheel passing the time and never living the lives we were destined to live?
Take some time now and think about one way you can empty your plate of the unimportant and insignificant.
Free your life from the timewasters so you have more time to enjoy the important things in life.
