A few weeks ago, I came up with an idea to bring a new educational experience to my two teenage daughters.
As I thought about the things that I wanted my daughters to learn, there was one thing that came immediately to my mind.
I would want them to know how to run a profitable business.
I learned many things in all my years of schooling.
However, the one thing I did not learn about was money.
I didn’t learn how to manage money.
I didn’t learn how to make money.
Of all the skills that are vital to life, the current educations is devoid of financial education.
Everything in the educational system in America is geared to train people to become employees.
Money is so important to our lives and yet it is the one subject absent from traditional education.
Many people suffer in lives because they don’t understand the basic fundamentals of how money works.
People enslave themselves to others because of their ignorance of money.
People become confused about money and they stick their heads in the sand.
They say idiotic things such as the following:
- Money isn’t important.
- I’d rather be happy than have money.
- Money is the root of all evil.
- I’m not good with money.
There are countless other lies people believe about money and it rots their lives away.
They end up living paycheck to paycheck taking jobs where their souls die so they can put food on the table.
As I thought over these things, it dawned on me that I could make a difference with my children.
I could teach them what my parents didn’t teach me.
I could teach my children how to gain sovereignty over their lives by owning a business.
I realized that if I could spend the rest of their teenage years teaching them how to run a profitable business, they would have a huge gift.
They would have the gift of self-sufficiency.
They would have the knowledge to make money on demand.
They would have a gift to build a business to serve people.
They would have a gift to enrich their lives and the lives of their families.
As I thought about this further, I recognized the most important thing I could do for them is teach them to be a business owner.
Yesterday I began their business school.
Yesterday I taught them their first business lesson.
The sole purpose of a business is to make money.
My goal is to help them build a business over the next couple of years that will earn them enough money so they can start their adult lives with a livable income.
I’m excited to see how this experience unfolds for both me and my daughters.
